Lovecraft Country Showrunner Will Direct Next Tomb Raider Movie
MGM has snagged HBO’s Lovecraft Country showrunner Misha Green to write and direct the next Tomb Raider movie. Alicia Vikander will return as Lara Croft.
Green will make her feature directing debut on the flick. She tweets.
I remember when Kill List director Ben Wheatley was going to helm Tomb Raider 2. But I guess The Meg 2 with Jason Statham snagged him instead. Oh, well.
The last flick found Lara Croft trying to solve her father’s disappearance. She embarks on a perilous journey to his last-known destination, a fabled tomb on a mythical island somewhere off the coast of Japan. The stakes couldn’t be higher as Lara must rely on her sharp mind and blind faith to venture into the unknown.

Roar Uthaug (The Wave) directed the reboot which sports a 51% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Tomb Raider reboots the franchise with a more grounded approach and a star who’s clearly more than up to the task — neither of which are well served by an uninspired origin story.
