Sean Cunningham’s FRIDAY THE 13TH Lawsuit Update/Clarification

Last week, we reported that original Friday the 13th director and Sean Cunningham and his production company Horror Inc. had launched a lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures. This should not be confused with the ongoing lawsuit Cunningham is waging with original Friday screenwriter Victor Miller (although it’s all very confusing!).

Over the weekend, we got some clarification on Cunningham’s new lawsuit from our favorite Friday-alumn-turned-lawyer Larry Zerner (the actor who played the loveable loser Shelley in Friday the 13th: Part III). Apparently, Cunningham’s suit only pertains to 2009’s Friday the 13th reboot (directed by Marcus Nispel).

We’ll continue bringing you updates as information becomes available, so stay tuned and check back often!

If it’s been a while, check out the trailer and synopsis for 2009’s Friday the 13th below.

Synopsis:
Against the advice of locals and police, Clay (Jared Padalecki) scours the eerie woods surrounding Crystal Lake for his missing sister. But the rotting cabins of an abandoned summer camp are not the only things he finds. Hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees lies in wait for a chance to use his razor-sharp machete on Clay and the group of college students who have come to the forest to party.
