The 2012 edition of “Elvira’s Horror Hunt” and the all-star jury led by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Peaches Christ have named the Grand Prize winners of Best Feature and Best Short films. Read on for details!

From the Press Release:
Indiana filmmaker Scott Schirmer’s Found took the top prize for Best Feature Film while Chicago-based Danny DelPurgatario’s Other secured the Best Short Film award. Seven features and thirteen shorts played in the selection process, and the winners were chosen by Elvira and Peaches and their jury of Sybil Danning, Bill Moseley, and Joe Bob Briggs.

In a combined statement from the “Elvira’s Horror Hunt” jury, they express, “Found is an after-school Lifetime movie on bullying with multiple decapitations, full-frontal nude massacres, a head in a bowling bag, and then there are the disturbing parts. Both Found and Other deliver the goods in direction, acting, and special effects. In displaying a dedicated, fearless point of view with disturbingly beautiful stories, both winners are true horror films and are fantastic examples of what indie horror filmmakers are creating right now.”

“The cast and crew of Found are thrilled beyond belief that our movie is being introduced to the world by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Peaches Christ through ‘Elvira’s Horror Hunt.’ It is the greatest honor any of us have ever received, “says director Scott Schirmer of Found. “It means the world to all of us that Horror Hunt is supporting indie filmmakers, and I simply cannot thank them enough.”

“We would like to thank all of the people at ‘Elvira’s Horror Hunt’ for hosting such an amazing event. Screening alongside so many outstanding films was an inspiration, and we are deeply honored to have been selected as Best Short Film,” says director Danny DelPurgatario of Other. “Just the thought of Elvira, Peaches Christ, Sybil Danning, Bill Moseley, and Joe Bob Briggs watching our film is humbling. We couldn’t be more excited to bring Other to the Vista Theater for what will become a night to a remember.”

Both films, with the filmmakers, cast, and crew in attendance, will screen on Thursday, September 13th, at 8:00 pm, at the historic Vista Theatre in Hollywood, California. Walk the red carpet with them, get blinded by paparazzi, and experience an evening of terrifying films and frightful excitement. Admission is just $20. Buy your tickets in advance here as the event is guaranteed to sell out.
