New TWISTED METAL Series Snags Deadpool & Zombieland Writers
A live-action series adaptation of the PlayStation game Twisted Metal is in the works. And today we hear the show has snagged Deadpool and also Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
The new action-comedy series centers on a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life. But only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and also other dangers of the open road. Including a deranged clown named who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck. Fans of the game know him as Sweet Tooth.
Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) will write the series. He will also executive produce with Reese and Wernick, Will Arnett, Marc Forman, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Hermen Hulst.
Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions said: “Twisted Metal is one of the most beloved franchises from PlayStation. We are thrilled to have such a great team working on bringing this iconic game to life for the fans.”
Glenn Adilman, executive VP of comedy development for Sony Pictures Television also added: “We love Twisted Metal in all its twisted insanity. Michael Jonathan Smith hit it out of the park with an action-packed, brilliantly funny adaptation and we are grateful for the support of Rhett, Paul, Will and our friends at PlayStation.”
