Dread Central and Jordan von Netzer of Projection PR launched “Dissecting Horror” on April 15th with a panel focused on horror film scores. Since then, they have produced panels spotlighting stunt coordinators, visual/special effects and the creatives behind Followed, Cruiser, 12 Hour Shift, Don’t Look Back, Hunter Hunter, Willy’s Wonderland, and Parallel.
ABOUT THE PANELISTS:
Mike P. Nelson (Director)
If the apocalypse were to happen tomorrow, you’d find Mike sipping an old-fashioned in his backyard and reveling in the fact that now he could go out and shoot a post-apocalyptic revenge film entirely practical. Whether he’s writing or directing, Mike’s focus remains on creating stylized, character-driven work. Sure he may like the dark, weird, and gritty nature of storytelling, but underneath all that cool midnight madness is something warm we call heart. And boy is it tasty! He wrote and directed his first feature film, The Domestics, with MGM and just finished his latest, Wrong Turn with Constantin Film.
Nick Junkersfeld (Cinematographer)
Nick Junkersfeld is a director of photography, editor, and filmmaker who has worked on numerous commercial, narrative, and documentary projects in the Twin Cities and abroad. Perpetually striving to elevate every film he’s a part of, Nick has proven to be a visual artist and collaborator of exceptional standards.
Roshelle Berliner (Production Designer)
Roshelle has designed for a number of notable films and television shows. Her work has been featured in the pilot for Netflix’s Ozark directed by Jason Bateman, SYFY’s Happy!, Cinemax’s 1972 period drama Quarry directed by Greg Yaitanes, and NBC’s sci-fi thriller Believe from J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón.
Her films include Puzzle from director Marc Turtletaub, Mike Nelson’s The Domestics, God’s Pocket from director John Slattery and producer Philip Seymour Hoffman, Chinese Puzzle from director Cédric Klapisch, Clark Gregg’s Choke, Todd Solondz’s Life During Wartime, and Lee Daniel’s Academy Award Winning Precious.
She is currently working on the Fox pilot The Cleaning Lady. Roshelle is a graduate of the Fine Arts Program at the prestigious Parsons School.
Bill Sage (Venable)
Bill Sage began his career working with independent filmmakers such as Hal Hartley, with whom he has collaborated on many critically acclaimed films including Simple Men, and further collaborating on the upcoming Where To Land in the lead role.
Mr. Sage has shot several award-winning films and cult hits such as, American Psycho, Boiler Room, High Art, EvenHand, Mysterious Skin, Electrick Children, AWOL, the Academy Award-winning Precious, and received critical acclaim at both Cannes and Sundance for his performance in Jim Mickle’s, We Are What We Are.
Before The COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Sage completed the first season of Reprisal on Hulu, and a leading role the first in a new film franchise, Wrong Turn.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sage has been a champion for diversity and equality in the film industry. He has made a point of working with female directors, writers, and Producers including Mary Harron, Lisa Cholodenko, Mira Nair, and Rebecca Thomas, to name only a few.
