There a TERMINATOR Anime Series In the Works at Netflix

He’ll be back–as an anime character!

The Hollywood Reporter dropped some exciting news for Terminator fans this afternoon: There’s a new anime series in the works based on the classic horror/sci-fi franchise launched by James Cameron in 1984. It’ll be a collaboration between Netflix and Skydance and Mattson Tomlin (The Batman co-writer) has been tapped as Showrunner and Executive Producer.

“Anyone who knows my writing knows I believe in taking big swings and going for the heart,” said Tomlin in a statement. “I’m honored that Netflix and Skydance have given me the opportunity to approach Terminator in a way that breaks conventions, subverts expectations and has real guts.”

The original Terminator spawned 5 cinematic sequels and a TV series (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), as well as numerous video games, comics, and novels. If it’s been a while, revisit the trailer and synopsis for The Terminator below.

Synopsis:
Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape.
