From the Press Release
Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada and Raven Banner Entertainment are set to release Rue Morgue magazine publisher-turned-filmmaker Rodrigo Gudiño’s spooky first feature The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh in 2013. The film that Clive Barker called “a whole new direction in which to take the narrative experience in filmmaking” celebrated its market premiere at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival prior to festival screenings across Europe, Israel, Latin America, South Africa and Canada.
The film stars Aaron Poole (Small Town Murder Songs, The Samaritan) alongside Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave (Mission: Impossible, Coriolanus, The Devils), character actor Julian Richings (X-Men 3: The Last Stand, Wrong Turn, “Supernatural”), Stephen Eric McIntyre (High Life, Fear X), Genie Award winning star Charlotte Sullivan (Population 436, Defendor) and cult television icon Mitch Markowitz (“The Hilarious House of Frightenstein”) and features an original score by world beat superstar Mercan Dede (Kingdom of Heaven, Passion of the Christ) and effects work by Anthony Scott Burns (MTV, Paul Van Dyk’s Evolution) and Marcus Alquieres (The Adventures of Tintin, Rise of the Planet of the Apes). The film is produced by Marco Pecota (The Facts in the Case of Mister Hollow) for Rue Morgue Cinema, made possible with the participation of Telefilm Canada.
“The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh is a beautifully crafted, stylish and thought-provoking horror film. Rodrigo Gudiño and Marco Pecota are a team to watch, and we are thrilled to be supporting them on their flagship release,” said Rob Herholz, General Manager of Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada. Managing Partner of Raven Banner, Michael Paszt said, “We have long been fans of Rodrigo Gudiño. His unique vision and attention to the craft of filmmaking makes him stand out from the rest of the pack. We are very pleased to be part of this amazing film.”
The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh tells the story of Leon (Poole), an antiques collector who inherits a house from his estranged mother, Rosalind (Redgrave), only to discover that she had been living in a shrine devoted to a mysterious cult of angels. As night falls, Leon comes to suspect that his mother’s oppressive spirit still lingers within her home and is using items in the house to contact him with an urgent message. Multiple award winning filmmaker Rodrigo Gudiño has crafted a terrifying new film with a strikingly original narrative technique that looks at the psychology of ghosts.
