Horror History: Happy Birthday, New Scream Queen, VICTORIA PEDRETTI

On this day in horror history, Victoria Pedretti was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1995. Pedretti had her breakthrough as Eleanor “Nell” Crain Vance in Netflix and Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House.

She followed that up with her turn as Danielle “Dani” Clayton in Flanagan’s follow-up series The Haunting of Bly Manor. And the Amazing Stories episode “The Cellar”.

Pedretti made her feature debut in writer-director Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie. She also starred in Josephine Decker’s Shirley Jackson biography with Elisabeth Moss.

Pedretti played Love Quinn on the second season of Netflix’s You. She will reprise her role for the third season, which is set to hit the streaming giant sometime in 2021.

Pedretti attended Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills and the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2017. She began film acting in 2014 in two independent short films.

She received a Saturn Award nomination for The Haunting of Hill House. The Haunting of Bly Manor earned her a Critics’ Choice Super Award nomination.

Pedretti stars in The Haunting of Bly Manor as a young American nanny in 1980s England. Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires her to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) after their previous au pair’s tragic death. The children reside at Bly Manor with chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.

The season sports an 88% over on Rotten Tomatoes with this Critics Consensus: It may not be as scary as its predecessor, but with plenty of spooky tricks inside its haunted halls and a strong sense of heart, The Haunting of Bly Manor is another solid entry into Mike Flanagan’s growing horrorography.
