Production Has Wrapped on Monte Light’s Surreal Vampire Thriller BLOOD COVERED CHOCOLATE
On the eve of the 100th Anniversary of the F.W. Murnau 1922 vampire film Nosferatu, filmmaker Monte Light has wrapped principal photography on his next feature, Blood Covered Chocolate.
Shot in stunning black-and-white by award-winning cinematographer Neal Tyler, Blood Covered Chocolate acts as both an homage to Murnau’s horror classic, as well as a surreal commentary on the demons and addictions inherent in modern life. “It’s a side of vampirism that feels fresh and psychologically compelling,” Light says. “It’s also an exploration of my own struggles with substance abuse. It’s the most personal movie I’ve ever made.”

Blood Covered Chocolate centers around a recovering drug-addict named Massimo. When he is bitten by an ancient, shapeshifting monster, Massimo must fight to save his girlfriend Tien from the same bloody fate. It stars Michael Klug (Space) as Massimo and Christine Nguyen (Get Him to the Greek) as Tien. It also features Meghan Deanna Smith (From Jennifer), Joe Altieri (Vengeance Turns), Jamie Tran (Isolation/ship), Debra Lamb (Beverly Hills Vamp, A Blood Story), Mike Ferguson (Beyond the Law), and Helene Udy of The Dead Zone and My Bloody Valentine fame.
Monte Light and Susan Hope Light served as Executive Producers on the film, made through their production company, American Courtyard Productions. Neal Tyler and Greg Schmittel served as Producers, and the movie was made in association with Frank Merle at Lone Morsel Productions, whose previous credits include The Employer, starring Malcolm McDowell and David Dastmalchian.
Blood Covered Chocolate follows on the heels of Light’s previous feature, the science fiction, found footage film Space, which is currently available through Random Media and 1091 Pictures on Apple TV, Xumo, iTunes, and Amazon.
