New Trailer: Netflix’s STOWAWAY with Toni Collette and Anna Kendrick

Joe Penna’s galactic sci-fi thriller Stowaway with Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim & Shamier Anderson hits Netflix on April 22. And today we have the trailer.

Check it out below.

Kendrick stars as Zoe, a medical researcher on a spaceship headed to Mars on a two-year mission. Onboard with her are the ship’s commander (Toni Collette) and a biologist (Daniel Dae Kim) — and an unexpected stowaway (Shamier Anderson), whom the crew finds trapped inside the ship shortly into their mission. With the small craft outfitted only to support three passengers and some irreparable damage done to its life support systems, the crew faces an impossible problem.

Collette tells EW: “I had never really read anything like it. It is contained and the characters are confined but the questions posed, moral and otherwise, are vast and wide open. It’s ultimately about community, survival, and sacrifice,” Collette points out. “Who can’t relate to that at the moment?

Kendrick adds: “We all were just in awe of Toni. It helped that Toni was playing the captain. It was one of those art-imitating-life moments. “There were times when we’d be about to start rolling, and Toni would close her eyes and just whisper to herself, ‘we’re in space, we’re in space, we’re in space. It would add this level of absolute terror and desperation.”

Penna (Arctic) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ryan Morrison (Artic, Release). Nick Spicer Produced along with Aram Tertzakian and Ulrich Schwarz.

Collette is basically horror royalty by this point in time. Her roles include The Sixth Sense, Fright Night, Krampus, Velvet Buzzsaw, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, and Hereditary. Up next is Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley with Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, Rooney Mara, and David Strathairn. It’s set to be released by Searchlight Pictures in December.

Stowaway premieres on Netflix on April 22nd.
