Horror History: THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT Opened 12 Years Ago Now

James Wan upped the caliber of supernatural horror movies when he launched The Conjuring franchise in 2013. But The Haunting in Connecticut, directed by Peter Cornwell and released in 2009, is a good as any haunted creeper produced by Wan and company. Perhaps disregarded for its PG-13 rating or merely ahead of its time. The Haunting in Connecticut is a powerful piece of paranormal cinema that deserves credit for delivering top-notch thrills and chills.

The Haunting in Connecticut Synopsis:
When their son Matt (Kyle Gallner) receives a diagnosis of cancer, Sara (Virginia Madsen) and Peter (Martin Donovan) Campbell move to Connecticut to be closer to his doctors. At first all is well, but then Matt becomes increasingly disturbed by what appears to be paranormal activity. Sara turns to a priest for help. And they banish the ghosts. But Matt’s condition takes a sudden and unexplained turn for the worse. And the lives of Sara and the rest of her family are endangered.

Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren, who are known for their involvement in The Amityville Horror case, were investigators for this case. (Source)

The Haunting in Connecticut reunites actors Elias Koteas and Virginia Madsen who appeared together in The Prophecy (1995) nearly 15 years previously. (Source)
