Listen Now: New GERALD’S GAME Director’s Commentary

Director Mike Flanagan and The Commentary Cast have released n all-new audio commentary track for the Netflix adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game.

Flanagan shared the news over on Twitter, writing: “If you’ve ever wanted to hear a director’s commentary for GERALD’S GAME, here you go… many thanks to Grant for including me. Still hoping Netflix will incorporate commentary tracks as an option on their original content – it’d only be upside for them!

Check out his tweet below.

Gerald’s Game is directed by Flanagan from a script he wrote with Jeff Howard based on Stephen King’s novel. It stars Carla Gugino (Sin City) and Bruce Greenwood.

A married couple arrives at an isolated house for a holiday. When the husband dies of a heart attack, his wife, left handcuffed to the bed without the key and with little hope of rescue, must find a way to survive, all while battling her inner demons.

The film sports a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Carla Gugino carries Gerald’s Game’s small-scale suspense with a career-defining performance.

Flanagan says: “I was 19 when I read it for the first time. I put it down and had gooseflesh all over my arms. It’s an astonishing story. There were parts of the book I couldn’t continue reading… I had to put it aside because they were so upsetting.”

He adds: “I remember when I put the book down, I thought, ‘It’s brilliant, but it’s unfilmable.’ When I first moved to Los Angeles, I would carry a hardback with me when I took general meetings. When anyone would ask me what my dream project was, I’d pull it out. It took me a couple of years to come up with a mechanism that would make it cinematic without changing the book.
