CHILD’S PLAY Series Episode Count Has Now Been Revealed
Last night, SyFy aired all seven Child’s Play movies. And creator Don Mancini was so excited he revealed that the upcoming Chucky series will consist of eight episodes.
Mancini says: “As a tasty aperitif in anticipation of Chucky’s upcoming eight-course SYFY/USA series, we’re super-excited to announce that fans will be able to experience Chucky’s entire seven-film (and counting!), 33-year (and counting!) legacy in a single marathon event of pure terror on April 1st on SYFY! Nothing foolish about that!”

While I’d gladly watch an episode of Chucky every week, all year. Eight episodes works too. I mean, it’s something. And I’m thankful as all hell or that.
Chucky is all set to debut this Fall. Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Hunter Hunter, Idle Hands) stars with Zackary Arthur (Transparent) and Teo Briones (Ratched).
Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN 15) and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless) co-star. Not to mention franchise favorites like Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Fiona Dourif.
The show begins after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a yard sale, an American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
Showrunner Don Mancini will write and direct the pilot.
He will also executive produce with David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, Frailty), Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, The Act), and Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Channel Zero).

Mancini says the show will use almost “100 %puppetry”. He teases: “I think it’s so important to keep Chucky as a practical puppet effect, partly because it’s important for the actors to have something to respond to on set … I also think it’s important that Chucky have the feel of a doll, of a puppet. He should be a little bit herky-jerky.”
