CHILD’S PLAY TV Series Has Now Added a Star of JASON X
Don Mancini’s new Child’s Play TV series Chucky is all set to debut this Fall. And today we hear Jason X star Lexa Doig (Stargate: SG1, Supernatural,) has joined the cast.
SYFY WIRE exclusively reveals Doig will play Bree Webber. She’s “married to Logan (played by Devon Sawa), she is the aunt of Jake Webber (Zackary Arthur), one of the teenage leads […] Bree is held to an unrealistic standard — by her husband and herself, which leads her to keep a dark secret from her family.”
Mancini told SYFY WIRE last year: “It’s a return to the straightforward horror scariness of the first couple of movies involving a whole new group of kids. One thing I think I can probably safely say is that it’s a look at what it means to be a kid today in the 21st century as distinct from what it was like to be a kid in the 1980s when we first showed up on the scene. That’s one thing I think people can look forward to and thinking about, ‘How does Chucky operate in a world where kids spend so much of their time on social media?’ I think the prospect of seeing Chucky sharpen his skills and add to his toolbox, some of the technical goodies that we have at our disposal now, that’s something I think people will find pretty interesting.”

As mentioned above, Doig joins a cast that includes Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Hunter Hunter, Idle Hands), Zackary Arthur (Transparent), and Teo Briones (Ratched).
Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN 15) and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless) co-star. Not to mention franchise favorites like Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Fiona Dourif.
The show begins after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a yard sale. Now a series of horrifying murders throws an American town into chaos and exposes its hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings. Not to mention the doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Showrunner Don Mancini writes and directs the pilot (“Death by Misadventure”). He also executive produces with David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus), Nick Antosca (Channel Zero), Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks), and Alex Hedlund (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).
Mancini says the show will use almost “100 %puppetry”. He teases, “I think it’s so important to keep Chucky as a practical puppet effect. Partly because it’s important for the actors to have something to respond to on set … I also think it’s important that Chucky have the feel of a doll, of a puppet. He should be a little bit herky-jerky.”
