Having seen The Exorcist several times over the years, The Bad Dreamers’ “Georgetown” dives into the perspective of Father Damian Karras (played in the film by Jason Miller), the battle of his faith, and his fight to save the life and soul of young Regan MacNeil (played by Linda Blair).

The Exorcist Synopsis:
One of the most profitable horror movies ever made, this tale of an exorcism is based loosely on actual events. Young Regan (Linda Blair) starts acting odd. Her worried mother (Ellen Burstyn) seeks medical help, only to hit a dead end. A local priest (Jason Miller), however, thinks the girl may be seized by the devil. The priest makes a request to perform an exorcism. The church sends in an expert (Max von Sydow) to help with the difficult job.
William Friedkin directed The Exorcist from a screenplay by William Peter Blatty. Blatty also wrote the novel the film is based on.
The lyrics of “Georgetown” are told through Karras’ perspective. In a hypothetical conversation between himself and the ‘Devil’, who is actually the demon Pazuzu. The music video imagines an out-of-work Exorcist in today’s modern world. He navigates hard times while his significant other, a nun, also keeps a secret from him.
The Bad Dreamers is an LA-based project from the mind of David Schuler. They fuse the nostalgic charm of synthwave with the innovation of modern pop. It’s one of the most recognizable and exciting sounds in contemporary music. It showcases Schuler’s perfectly balanced songwriting style and top-flight production skills as a music industry professional, having worked with artists like P!nk, John Legend, and New Politics throughout his career. Schuler also co-wrote all of the music for the upcoming animated series Do Re & Mi with Jackie Tohn, featuring Kristen Bell and Fred Armeson. The series features 52 episodes, each with an original song.

The Bad Dreamers provides an opportunity for Schuler to explore a more personal approach to his music. And his highly melodic style and intensely poetic lyrics quickly attracted a fanbase with the release of his first singles in 2018. Following a popular collaboration with Timecop1983 on the song “Back to You,” Schuler released his debut album, Songs About People Including Myself in late 2018 through FiXT Neon. The Bad Dreamers gained further recognition in the summer of 2019 through a series of live shows alongside beloved pop synthwave act FM-84.
