Horror History: Now Let’s Wish SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR Happy Birthday!

On this day in horror history, Sarah Michelle Gellar was born in Long Island, New York in 1977. Gellar is best known for playing Buffy Summers in Joss Whedon’s long-running horror series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

But we here know her best for her roles in teen horror classics. Such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2. Her other genre credits include producer Sam Raimi’s remake of The Grudge and The Grudge 2 and also The Return and Possession.

She also starred as Daphne in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Not to mention Cruel Intentions.

If you’re a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s and looking for something new to watch, I recommend trying out Southland Tales. Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly helmed the underrated Michael Bay meets David Lynch flick. Yeah, it is NOT for everyone.

It begins with the US under the threat of nuclear attack. From there it follows the lives of several people who converge in a dystopian Los Angeles. Movie star Boxer (Dwayne Johnson) plans his next film with the help of ambitious porn actress (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and a troubled policeman (Seann William Scott). Meanwhile, revolutionaries and secretive government agencies pursue their separate agendas. It’s fucking wild.

Rated R for violence, language, sexual material, and some drug content, it sports a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Southland Tales, while offering an intriguing vision of the future, remains frustratingly incoherent and unpolished.
