STRANGER THINGS Star Up For New DUSTIN & STEVE Spin-Off Series
Netflix and The Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things 4 is now filming. And today, Gaten Matarazzo teases he’d be up for a Dustin & Steve spin-off with Joe Keery.

Matarazzo tells ET: “I think a Dustin-Steve spinoff would be good if it were in, like, a weird niche format […] Like a WandaVision type thing or like a web series type thing where on YouTube, there are weekly episodes of little hijinks they get into, like every now and again, like a skit show. That’d be great. You kind of break that format.”
Bring it on, I say!

Matarazzo also teased the new season of Stranger Things will be more mature.
Matarazzo says: “When it comes to the tone of the season, it’s definitely, I think the tone is definitely matured for sure, and I think they do that on purpose because I think they want [Stranger Things] to mature with their kids. As we are growing older as people, we have to grow older as characters. They’re confronted by this issue, but they embrace it, and they use it to their advantage. And they don’t freak out when we get taller or when our voices drop or anything like that. They use it and they use it as ammunition for their writing. It’s incredible what they can do.”
He adds: “I think what the goal for [Matt and Ross Duffer], to do is to make sure that the bar is raised every single season, but it’s raised not too much to a point at which we couldn’t be able to exceed or match what we’ve done prior. And they’re ambitious. [Matt & Ross are] hungry guys. They know what [Stranger Things] is, they know what people like about it. They know what they want and they’re going to get it too. That’s what a day working with them is like, it really is incredible.”
The Duffer Brothers created Stranger Things, inspired by the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and also Stephen King. Set in the 1980s in the town of Hawkins, Indiana, the first season of Stranger Things focused on the disappearance of a young boy and also the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities.
The third season of Stranger Things took place in the days leading up to the Fourth of July in 1985. A secret Soviet laboratory under the Starcourt Mall opens the gateway to the Upside Down, unleashing evil entities (and stranger things) into Hawkins.
