Producer Tom Malloy checked in with us this morning to share some info on and early artwork for the feature Air Disturbance, a flick set to be directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins) that is slated to go before cameras this November 27th in Los Angeles.
Written by Jeremy Sklar and described as “Paranormal Activity in an airplane without the found footage” by Malloy, the film has genre legend Robert Englund and Dylan Walsh (The Stepfather, “Nip/Tuck”) attached to star. Malloy and Nesim Hason (The Alphabet Killer) will produce with planned 2013 theatrical distribution via Hason’s New Films International Distributing Worldwide. Have a look at some teaser art below.
Synopsis:
In Air Disturbance the horrific action takes place at 35,000 feet on a transcontinental flight from Los Angeles to Toronto. Dylan Walsh plays Sam Davidson, a widowed father of two, whose wife recently committed suicide. When strange atmospheric conditions begin to affect the aircraft, Sam protects his children and his psychic girlfriend from some of the other passengers, particularly a fanatical minister (Robert Englund) who believes that the supernatural phenomena could be a sign from God.
“The story was appealing to me from day one,” said director Dante. “So many of us, including myself, have anxiety about flying, and this movie expertly plays on those fears.”
“I think there’s an inherent fear that people have with planes,” added Malloy, “because they are not the ones in control. This movie takes those fears to a whole new level.”
“We’re delighted to be working with Joe,” Hason offered, “and feel he was the best fit for this exciting and terrifying film.”
Dread will be on set to experience some Air Disturbance later this month and will deliver you a report soon.
