Barbara Crampton Up For New RE-ANIMATOR Movie with Jeffrey Combs
Director Stuart Gordon’s adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s Re-Animator is one of the top classics our beloved genre has to offer. And today, original star Barbara Crampton (You’re Next, Jakob’s Wife) confirms that she is open to returning to the franchise.

Crampton tells ComicBook.com: “I do think that there’s room for us to explore an expanded universe with Re-Animator, possibly, or with something that would be a reimagining of it or some other Lovecraft tale that Jeffrey and I could be paired together in. It’s been a long time since Jeffrey and I have worked together. There have been times when we’ve tried to, and it hasn’t worked. I do think that we’re not done yet, and we’ll do something together, but I don’t know what that is. And whether it be expanding on the Re-Animator franchise or potentially doing something else having to do with Lovecraft, I think at some point, we’ll see that happen, but I just don’t know what that is yet.”
Please, let this happen!
Crampton and Combs also collaborated on Gordon’s From Beyond and Castle Freak. But their classic is still Re-Animator. The film stars Combs as Herbert West, a medical student who’s invented a reagent that can re-animate the dead. He and classmate (Bruce Abbott) test the serum on humans, and conflict with (David Gale), who’s infatuated with Abbott’s fiancĂ©e (Crampton) and wants to claim the invention.
Stuart Gordon’s cult classic sports a near-perfect 93% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Perfectly mixing humor and horror, the only thing more effective than Re-Animator’s gory scares are its dry, deadpan jokes.
