He tweets: “I see you brought the fire…” This project has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. I’m so excited to be collaborating with my brother James, and my partner in crime Intrepid Pix on this epic horror movie – in space – for Universal Pics. When I used to daydream about the theatrical trailer for this movie back in the early ’90s, I always imagined it set to Sarah McLachlan’s POSSESSION…

Plot details for the new Mike Flanagan flick are under wraps but we hear it’s a sci-fi flick set on Mars. But really, why keep the plot a secret? We already have the book.

Which follows this synopsis:

Dr. Lauren Wagner was a celebrity. She was involved with the most exciting adventure mankind had ever undertaken: a manned expedition to Mars. The whole world admired and respected her. But Lauren knew fear. Inside―voices entreating her to love them. Outside―the mystery of the missing group that had gone before her. The dead group. But were they simply dead? Or something else? A haunting and unforgettable blend of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and suspense from one of America’s bestselling writers. A novel you won’t soon forget.

Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor) will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with James Flanagan.

Mike Flanagan will also produce along with Trevor Macy. Pike will serve as executive producer with Melinda Nishioka. Ryan Jones and Christine Sun will oversee for Universal.

You can go ahead and snag a copy of the book RIGHT HERE.

Meanwhile, the Mike Flanagan The Midnight Club series sports a killer cast including A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Heather Langenkamp, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard, and Sauriyan Sapkota. And joining them Zach Gilford, Samantha Sloyan, and Matt Biedel.
