Felix Silla, Cousin Itt on THE ADDAMS FAMILY, Now Dead at 84

We’re heartbroken to report that Felix Silla, the actor who played Cousin Itt on TV’s The Addams Family, has passed away. He was 84-years-old. For the role, Silla would don a full-body hairpiece, sunglasses, and also a bowler hat. Cousin Itt had a unique dialect of mumbles and squeaks.

Before beginning a career in acting, Silla was a circus performer and a stuntman. In addition to playing Cousin Itt on The Addams Family, he played the robot Twiki on Buck Rogers, the hang-gliding Ewok in Return of the Jedi, and the villain Litvak in The Maltese Falcon sequel The Black Bird.

The Addams Family ran from 1964 to 1968 for a total of 64 episodes. Though Cousin Itt only appeared in 17 episodes, he became a fan favorite. You can also see him in action in the clip below.

Deadline reports that Silla is survived by his wife, Sue, whom he married in 1965. And also their children, Bonnie and Michael. No memorial plans have been announced.

All of us here at Dread Central send our sincerest condolences to Silla’s fans, friends, and also family.
