Wheatley tells The Playlist podcast: “…I still want to make a Doom film, though. I know it’s been done, but come on.”
Now I say let the man have a swing at a new Doom movie. After all, it can’t be as bad as the 2005 version. You know, the one with Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson.

That flick followed a team of space marines. The Rock leads them to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm (Rosamund Pike), who is related to team member Reaper (Karl Urban), informs them all that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters. And is highly infectious.
The film sports an 18% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus: The FPS sections are sure to please fans of the video game. But lacking in plot and originality to please other moviegoers.
Then there was the recent, Doom: Annihilation. It followed a group of UAC Marines. They respond to a distress call from a top-secret scientific base on Phobos, a Martian moon. Only to discover it’s been overrun by demons. It faired a bit better with a 43% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes.
