There are days when a film announcement hitting my inbox causes me great joy and excitement. This is one of those times. Read on for the details!
Larry Blamire, writer, director, producer and star of the 2001 horror-comedy feature The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra and its follow-up, the 2009 flick The Lost Skeleton Returns Again (review here), got in touch with me today to dole out some amazing news–namely, he’s planning on a third film in the franchise to be titled The Lost Skeleton Walks Among Us!
“Anyone who knows me knows that I am an outspoken fan of practical FX,” said Blamire, who also directed 2007’s Trail of the Screaming Forehead and 2009’s Dark and Stormy Night, “and I am absolutely thrilled to be partnering with champion practical torchbearer and mad genius Cleve Hall [on a pair of projects]. His “Monster Man” [reality] show has kids, kids mind you, making their own monster masks and such out of rubber, clay and anything else they can actually get their physical hands into. That really does my heart good. So how cool was it to find out, in turn, that Cleve is a huge fan of our brand of insanity?”
“Up first for us will be The Lost Skeleton Walks Among Us,” he revealed, “the long awaited latest installment in the ongoing saga of everyone’s favorite obnoxious, world-domination-seeking skeleton; and following that will be a kaiju dream project of Cleve’s, Gadzooka. We are stoked to say the least!”
No word on cast or plot as of yet, although we’d predict actress Jennifer Blaire’s involvement and can only hope that recurring Blamire project players Faye Masterson, Trish Geiger, Daniel Roebuck, Andrew Parks, Brian Rowe, Dan Conroy and more will return. Blamire promises more info in January of the coming year so stay tuned to Dread Central for future updates.
