The story revolves around a group of underachieving friends in Atlanta. When the city becomes overrun by zombies, the friends are taking part in Spelman College’s SpelHouse homecoming event. 10 years after they dropped out of the prestigious HBCU women’s school.
Thede (A Black Lady Sketch Show) wrote the screenplay and will produce along with Jax Media’s Tony Hernandez, John Hodges, and Brooke Posch.
Thede recently played Denise in Dear White People director Justin Simien‘s 80’s Hulu horror satire Bad Hair with Elle Lorraine and Vanessa Williams.
It follows an ambitious woman who gets a weave in order to succeed in the image-obsessed world of music television. However, her flourishing career comes at a great cost when she realizes that her new hair may have a mind of its own.
It sports a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Bad Hair’s unwieldy ambitions are easy to respect — even if the film’s tonal jumble and uneven execution are impossible to ignore.
