DEMON SLAYER: Hit New Anime Movie Slays US Box-Office
Earlier today, we passed along word that the new Mortal Kombat movie managed to snag $22.5M at the weekend box office. And Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train wasn’t far behind in second place with a stunning $19.5M.

The films drove the biggest overall weekend since mid-March last year when Covid hit the US with $52.9M. That a +180% over last weekend!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train is also known as Demon Slayer: Mugen Train or Demon Slayer: Infinity Train. The 2020 Japanese animated dark fantasy period action film is based on the shonen manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge.
The film is a direct sequel to the first season of the television series. Haruo Sotozaki directed. Ufotable produced. Rated R for violence and bloody images, the film sports a 100% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. And a 99% Audience Score.
The film has grossed over US$454 million worldwide, becoming the 2nd highest-grossing film in 2020 and the first Japanese film and first anime to reach $400M worldwide. It’s also the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, the highest-grossing anime film, and Japanese film of all time.
