It hits Sunday, May 23rd and Wednesday, May 26th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The 1986 coming-of-age film is based on King’s 1982 novella The Body with a title derived from Ben E. King’s song. It tells the tale of four boys in 1959 Castle Rock, Oregon, who go on a hike to find the dead body of a missing boy.

Rob Reiner directed Stand by Me from a screenplay written by Bruce A. Evans and Raynold Gideon based on Stephen King’s novella The Body. River Phoenix stars with Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, and Kiefer Sutherland.

The film snagged an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Synopsis:
A stranger has been accidentally killed near their rural homes. Now four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. They are Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton), Vern Tessio (Jerry O’Connell), Chris Chambers (River Phoenix), and Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman). On the way, they encounter a mean junk man and a marsh full of leeches. They also learn more about one another and their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys’ adventure evolves into a defining event in their lives.

The classic film sports a near-perfect 91% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus: Stand By Me is a wise, nostalgic movie with a weird streak that captures both Stephen King’s voice and the trials of growing up.

Tom Lucas, VP of Studio Relations at Fathom Events said: “Stand By Me on its 35th anniversary is still as touching and as fresh as it was when first released back in 1986. Whether seeing it for the very first time on the big screen, or revisiting it as a favorite, movie fans will be moved by Stand By Me at their local theater.”

This special 35th-anniversary event will also include the featurette Walking the Tracks: The Summer of Stand by Me. It hits Sunday, May 23rd at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Wednesday, May 26th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now right HERE.
