Netflix Cancels Scary New Sherlock Holmes Series After One Season
Netflix has canceled Sherlock Homes spin-off series The Irregulars after one season. This comes despite the show hitting Netflix’s top 10 list and edging out The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in Nielsen’s weekly U.S. streaming charts at the end of April.

Shrugs.
The eight-part series featured characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. But with a supernatural YA twist. The series premiered on March 26th.
Here’s the trailer:
Tom Bidwell (Watership Down) wrote and and executive produced. Rebecca Hodgson produced. Greg Brenman also exec produced. Directors included Johnny Allan, Joss Agnew, and Weronika Tofilska.
Synopsis:
A dark, mysterious eight-part dram. It follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson. And his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. But the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges. Now The Irregulars (based on the Baker Street Irregulars gang from the books) must come together to defeat larger-than-life forces.
Bidwell tells EW: “We set out with that intention, why can’t they go into what is predominantly a man’s world and kick a bit of ass? I wanted to stay away from things that are classic period Victorian, more like Dickensian stuff. I wanted to make it feel exciting and scary and very, very fresh so these characters are very accessible to a modern audience. They have problems that we have, they don’t speak in a period way, they speak to each other in a more contemporary way than you would probably expect from a Victorian adaptation.”
Thaddea Graham (Us) stars with Darci Shaw (Judy), Jojo Macari (Sex Education), and McKell David (Snatch). Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve), and Clarke Peters (His Dark Materials) also co-star.
