There’s no question that when it comes to filling a role once portrayed by the great and unforgettable Michael Clarke Duncan, somebody is going to have some pretty big shoes to fill. Read on to find out who could be up to the task.
Dennis Haysbert, who spent several years as the U.S. President on Fox’s “24,” is in negotiation to play one of the heavies in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, says THR. Haysbert will play Manute, the brutal and seemingly unstoppable right-hand man of Ava’s husband. The role was played in the 2005 movie by Duncan, who died in September at age 54.
The film, a Quick Draw Production, will be produced by Robert Rodriguez and producing partners Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic and by Alexander Rodnyansky and Sergei Bespalov and Stephen L’Hereux. Frank Miller, The Weinstein Company’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Miramax’s Adam Fields will act as executive producers. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was developed by Miller based upon his graphic novel with a screenplay by Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed).
Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Clive Owen, Jaime King and Rosario Dawson are among those returning, and Jamie Chung is replacing Devon Aoki for the sequel, which is on a short break from shooting in Austin.
“The film is about Dwight McCarthy (Owen) planing to have his vengeance against the woman who betrayed him, Ava Lord, while Nancy (Alba) is trying to cope with Hartigan’s death.”
Look for it in theatres on October 4th, 2013!
