James Gunn’s New SUICIDE SQUAD Now Rated R For Every Reason Imaginable
James Gunn’s new movie The Suicide Squad with Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, and Joel Kinnaman is rated R for… pretty much every reason imaginable.

Specifically, The Suicide Squad earned an R-rating for strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use, and brief graphic nudity.

Margot Robbie stars with Idris Elba, John Cena, and Joel Kinnaman. Jai Courtney joins them along with Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, and Michael Rooker. Alice Braga rounds out the cast with Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Sylvester Stallone, and also Viola Davis.
Synopsis: “Imprisoned convicts of Belle Reve penitentiary are sent as members of Task Force X to the South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory which held political prisoners and conducted experiments.”
Gunn directs the standalone sequel to Suicide Squad from his own script. It marks the tenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). DC Films, Atlas Entertainment, and The Safran Company produce. Warner Bros. Pictures will handle distribution.
The Suicide Squad will hit theaters and also HBO Max on August 6th. A spin-off series with John Cena’s Peacemaker will also debut on HBO Max in January 2022.
