Horror History: DREAM WARRIORS’ Priscilla Pointer is Now 97 Years Old!
On this day in horror history, Priscilla Pointer was born in New York, NY in 1924. Making her 97 years old! She’s best known for her role as Dr. Elizabeth Simms in Chuck Russell and Frank Darabont’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.
Pointer is the mother of Amy Irving (Carrie, The Fury) and also the former mother-in-law of Steven Spielberg (1941, Always).
She also starred as Mrs. Snell in Brian DePalma’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie. Plus she played Mrs. Chadwick in Mommie Dearest and Miss Cox in Spielberg’s “Kick the Can” segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie. Mrs. Beaumont, Kyle MacLachlan mother in David Lynch’s masterpiece Blue Velvet.
And let’s not forget, C.H.U.D. II: Bud the Chud.
IMDB says: “At 97 years old, Pointer is the second longest-lived Nightmare on Elm Street cast member, she has appeared in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). Clu Gulager who appeared in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985) is third at 90 while Zsa Zsa Gabor (also appearing in Dream Warriors but only as herself) is overall the longest-lived at 99.”
