Synopsis:
Director Eric Mathis brings you a practical effects-laden, monster film that is bursting with old-school video store horror goodness! Written by Eric Mathis, and award-winning writer Rolfe Kanefsky, The Macabre is four horror tales filled with monsters, ghosts, demons, and slashers that are all tied together by a huge twisty-turny, shock-ending wraparound story!
The Macabre features many fan-favorite horror stars and cult icons in rare appearances like Mark Torgl (The Toxic Avenger), Drew Marvick (Pool Party Massacre), Alan Maxson (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Kansas Bowling (Once upon a time in Hollywood) and more.
The practical effects are absolutely next level with fully mechanical creature heads, full body monster suits, and mind-bending makeup FX. They are all done by Chris Arredondo and Walid Atshe of Tom Devlin’s 1313FX.
Director Statement:
“We really wanted this to be one of those horror films that delivered in every way. We cared about the stories being engaging, the characters sympathetic, not just nudity and gore, but a real, quality, horror film that horror fans and those that love and respect the genre will appreciate. I think we absolutely achieved that goal and created something that carries on the tradition of great horror films. We want to redefine what people expect when they hear ‘indie horror’.”
