Blumhouse & Stephen King’s FIRESTARTER Adds Gloria Reuben
Yesterday, we announced that young actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong (American Horror Story, The Tomorrow War, It: Chapter II) has snagged the lead role of “Charlie” in the upcoming feature film Firestarter from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse.

Today, the cast is expanding with the announcement that Gloria Reuben (Lincoln, Mr. Robot) has also signed on for Firestarter. Deadline broke the news.
Keith Thomas (The Vigil) directs from a script adapted by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Rectify). The film is based on an adaptation of Stephen King’s classic sci-fi thriller novel Firestarter.
Jason Blum and Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman will produce. Martha De Laurentiis, who was an associate producer on the 1984 adaptation of Firestarter starring a young Drew Barrymore in the titular role that Armstrong is now filling, will executive produce.

Synopsis:
As youths, Andy McGee (David Keith) and his future wife, Vicky (Heather Locklear), participated in secret experiments, allowing themselves to be subjected to mysterious medical tests. Years later, the couple’s daughter, Charlie (Drew Barrymore), begins to exhibit the ability of setting fires solely with her mind. This volatile talent makes the youngster extremely dangerous and soon she becomes a target for the enigmatic agency known as “The Shop.”
