The series will feature Lance Reddick (John Wick), Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels) and Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl). It also stars Siena Agudong (Hawaii Five-0), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Paola Nuñez (Bad Boys for Life).

This new revival of Capcom’s legendary horror IP will run 8 episodes of 1 hour each. Showrunner Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) is at the helm. The series is produced by legendary German company Constantin Film (Monster Hunter). Resident Evil will be a scripted series that will tell a brand new story building on the Japanese company’s fan-favorite franchise.

This news was announced today at Netflix Geeked’s first-ever Geeked Week. This virtual fan-facing event reveals first looks and celebrates all things genre entertainment at Netflix.

Resident Evil‘s previous incarnation featured Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) as Alice on the silver screen. She is our beloved amnesiac protagonist who must overcome the horrors unleashed by the shady Umbrella Corporation. Jovovich took on the role of Alice for a total of 5 Resident Evil movies over an impressive 10-year span.

Resident Evil first appeared as a video game for Sony’s PlayStation console in 1996. Since then, it has become Capcom’s best-selling video game franchise, selling over 110 million copies worldwide.

Are you a Resident Evil fan? Do you perhaps favor other Capcom stuff? I’m partial to Mega Man myself. But, having grown up in the 80s and 90s, maybe that’s no surprise. Do share what you like with us over on Twitter @dreadcentral. Also, feel free to nag me about Street Fighter @marcoscodas.
