Exclusive Video Interview: Dread Central Chats with the Stars of A Haunted House

On Friday, January 11th, Open Road Films’ spoof flick A Haunted House, which does its own humorous send-up of many of the recent found footage projects like Paranormal Activity, The Devil Inside and more, arrives in theaters nationwide.

To mark the occasion, we’ve got some exclusive interviews with several of the hilarious cast members including Marlon Wayans, Essence Atkins, David Koechner and Affion Crocket right here for you fiends. During a recent press day for A Haunted House, Dread Central caught up with everyone to hear more about their experiences making the horror-inspired comedy, their thoughts on improvising many of the film’s gags, and somewhere along the way this writer ends up slapping Wayans on his hilarious ass (for real)- so yeah, all fun stuff.

In the Wayans family tradition of successful movies like Scary Movie 1 & 2, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and, most recently, Dance Flick, Marlon Wayans co-wrote the script for A Haunted House along with Rick Alvarez, who has produced several Wayans family movies.

Synopsis
In an outrageous send-up of the Paranormal Activity movies, The Devil Inside and other “found footage” movies, A Haunted House features young couple Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins), who have just moved in to their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted; it’s Malcolm’s girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship… or, more importantly, his sex life.
