Audience Members “Possessed” During a Screening of THE CONJURING 3? [Video]

Last week, reports emerged out of Jakarta that several audience members at a screening of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It were “possessed” by evil spirits. A video of the incident went viral on Tik Tok.

The Jakarta Post reports:

The TikTok video posted by user @witeewitee went viral as she showed how the movie was stopped midway and several moviegoers gathered around someone who was screaming and shouting as if possessed.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It opens with a terrifying exorcism scene where an evil spirit appears to jump from one person to another.

The video of the Jakarta incident, however, isn’t terribly convincing. While it does indeed show a crowd gathering after the movie had been paused, I can’t hear any screaming. No one appears extremely panicked, and even the person taking the video can be heard laughing.

The Devil Made Me Do It director Michael Chaves commented on the incident via Twitter:

If you’ve yet to see The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It for yourself, check out the trailer and synopsis below.

Synopsis:
A chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.

The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 director James Wan produces the new sequel. The Curse of La Llorona filmmaker Michael Chaves directs. The Devil Made Me Do It stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, and Ruairi O’Connor plays Arne Cheyenne Johnson.
