BORDERLANDS: Production Wraps and We Get a Pic of Claptrap
Eli Roth has wrapped production on video game adaptation Borderlands. Also, as you can see in my cleverly rhyming title, a photo of Claptrap is now out there in the world. If you’ve never played Borderlands, Claptrap is a supremely annoying hunk of metal that can be found around the game’s hubs. He generally makes annoying noises and rolls around on it’s singular wheel.
Players are torn on Claptrap. Some think he’s lovable and funny, while others wish he had never been added. And as you can tell, I’m in the “why would you do this?” camp. Claptrap will be voiced by Jack Black in Roth’s Borderlands adaptation. Black will be voicing it alongside a cast of Hollywood’s well known powerhouses: Jamie Lee Curtis, Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Gina Gershon just to name a few.

Synopsis: “In the movie Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.”
Let’s take a look at the (surprisingly) practical effect Claptrap!
Well, dang. That really looks like Claptrap from the Borderlands games. Pretty cool. No release date is given for Borderlands. As soon as I know, I’ll tell you. What do you think of Claptrap? Maybe with a new voice he’ll become lovable? Join the conversation in the comments. We’re also on Instagram and Twitter @DreadCentral. We’re also on Facebook. I’m Jans. I write news.
