Synopsis:
Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his childhood friend Leti Lewis (Jurnee Smollett) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip from Chicago across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father, Montrose Freeman (Michael K. Williams). Their search-and-rescue turns into a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and monstrous creatures that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.
Hours after news of the cancelation was announced, Lovecraft Country creator Misha Green took to Twitter to share what viewers might have seen if the show had continued for a second season. She presented a very different version of the United States of America than the one we are used to.
In Lovecraft Country Season 2, America would have been divided into four regions: The Tribal Nations of the West, The Whitelands, The New Negro Republic, and The Jefferson Commonwealth.
Green shared further information about The Whitelands:
Sounds scary! Unfortunately, we’ll forever be left to wonder about what could have been in Lovecraft Country.
