Called, “Borat for the true-crime world,” Faking a Murderer follows filmmakers Stuart Stone and Adam Rodness on their noble yet perhaps misguided quest to track down a seedy-looking stranger they’ve discovered online who—in a disturbing video—seemingly confesses to a homicide. Or at least that’s what they think. Seeing the popularity of true crime shows, they decide to try and turn this discovery into their own killer hit. With the support (both moral and financial) of a distributor, the duo sets off on their journey to try and track down this elusive creep. When they bring the video to law enforcement, they’re told—repeatedly—that it’s really not much to go on, and they’re putting a lot of time and energy into what essentially is a fool’s errand. Determined to make this work, they flex, stretch and break their budget in pursuit of a hit new crime story, but are Stuart and Adam in over their heads?

The genre critics have been flipping for Faking a Murderer. Here’s a taste:

“Part Catfish with a dash of Deliverance Bonkers.”—HorrorBuzz

“A delirious and devilish thriller … A refreshing take on the current true crime trend.”—Toronto Film Files

“An unforgettable man-hunt.”—Rue Morgue

“Completely off the rails.”—iHorror

This week we chat with filmmaker, producer, composer, writer, author...this guy's done it all...John Harrison. From working with George Romero on everything from Creepshow and Dawn of the Dead to Tales from the Darkside to the Dune miniseries to his Netflix series Residue...he's done it all. He even directed Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, which was Andrew LaSane's Scarred for Life pick, which is one of Terry's favorite movies. We chat about his long history in cinema; about how he started working with Romero to some insights into Tales from the Darkside. And we discuss his latest work, the novel Residue: Paramentals Rising, which is a sequel to the Netflix show. After learning about his horror history--including a memorable viewing of Night of the Living Dead--we find out why The Haunting terrified him as a twelve year old.
