We’ve been talking about David Gordon Green’s remake of the Dario Argento classic Suspiria for what feels like forever now, and the bad news is we’re not a step closer to it happening. Or is that good news? Read on!
Collider caught up with Green at Sundance, where he was promoting his indie comedy Prince Avalanche. Green had the following to say about his proposed remake: “Suspiria is caught up in legal crap so who knows what will ever happen to that,” he explained. “That kind of falls into the ‘Confederacy of Dunces’ category of ‘someday I’d like to make these movies’ that I was once attached to and worked on, but they may never happen.”
Never happen?!? Has the justice system finally done something right?
Based on Dario Argento’s 1977 film of the same name, Suspiria was written by Green and Chris Gebert and centers on Suzie (Isabelle Fuhrman), a bright and ambitious American student who travels to Europe to attend a world renowned school. After a fellow student is brutally murdered and several other cruel and strange homicides disrupt the once quiet life on campus, Suzie realizes that the academy may be a front for a more menacing organization.
