Elijah Wood Now Wants To Adapt GRAND THEFT AUTO

Elijah Wood, star of The Lord of the Rings films, continues to prove himself as one of the most important figures in horror. The actor spearheads SpectreVision, the production house responsible for some of the more interesting genre offerings of the past decade. Titles include A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, Color Out of Space, and Mandy.

Now the star gets messy on a recent episode of Hot Ones, a popular YouTube series that sees celebs eating progressively spicier chicken wings. While chatting with host Sean Evans about his experience in the landscape of video games, Elijah Wood spilled some spicy tea.

He wants to adapt the classic Rockstar franchise Grand Theft Auto into a big-budget film or television series.

Here’s what Elijah Wood had to share:

The universe of GTA lends itself beautifully to a screen adaptation or a tv show … I mean, I think Vice City could be amazing although that already is sort of inspired by Miami Vice. But, GTA V I mean, the kinds of characters that are present within the context of that game very much lends itself either to a film or a tv series, that would be amazing.

Wood also had some interesting opinions about the world of horror video games. He expressed disappointment that the Resident Evil films didn’t explore the intimate, scary themes present in the games. But he’s still interested in how the new Resident Evil reboot will restart things.

Elijah Wood calls horror games “immersive” compared to the “passive” experience of watching a film.

He even shared some opinions on Silent Hill:

There are moments playing sequels of Silent Hill that were genuinely disturbing to play. You’re not sitting back and watching something, you are making the choice to go down that hallway… I think in that sense there is a level of suspense and sort of, within the context of the interactivity that maybe makes it more scary.
