‘Curse of the Chippendales’: Release Date Set For Grisly True Crime Docuseries

Curse of the Chippendales is an upcoming four-part documentary series set to air its first episode on September 24th via Discovery+. This salacious series will feature male strippers, Playboy Playmates, murder, and grandmothers at strip clubs.

The exciting project hails from Oscar and Emmy award-winning filmmakers Simon and Jonathan Chinn. Together they uncover the darkest corners of all-male strip club culture. The creators focus on the Chippendales dance troupe spearheaded by one Steve Banerjee.

Things get grisly when the spotlight shines on the murder-suicide of Playboy Playmate of the Month/actress Dorothy Stratton. Her estranged ex-husband Paul Snider was responsible for the murder and the brutal slaying of award-winning producer Nick De Noia.

But there will be plenty of other reasons to tune into Curse of the Chippendales. The series will also showcase the exciting inner workings of all-male strip shows. Even better, we will learn about the female fans who were empowered by the club’s unique gaze reversal.

Ex-dancer Read Scot shared the following insight at a recent TCA discussion, Deadline reports:

“Most of the TV shows and movies just touch on the salacious sex, jumping around, but they don’t really focus on the professional hard work that goes into putting a show like that together. You’re taking nonprofessional performers and teaching them to dance within their capabilities and lots of hours of scripting. They miss a lot by going to the gratuitous screaming, hollering, ripping clothes off. Yeah, that was the interaction that built the energy of the show. But they really miss the hard work creating that finished product.”

I’ll absolutely set a calendar alarm for September 24th.
