‘Salem’s Lot’: New Stephen King Adaptation Casts Its Lead
After the success of their IT films, New Line is pulling zero punches on its upcoming adaptation of ‘Salem’s Lot, Stephen King’s second novel. The studio has hired a familiar face, Gary Dauberman, to helm the big-budget project. Dauberman wrote IT: Chapter 2 as well as the Annabelle series. Now the creative team has also found its lead actor: Lewis Pullman will take on the weight of Jerusalem’s Lot when the project hits cameras, THR reports.
However, while Lewis Pullman is still a relatively fresh face in Hollywood, he’s already making his mark. He’s delivered scene-stealing performances in Bad Times at the El Royale and The Strangers: Prey at Night. Son of screen royalty Bill Pullman, Lewis’ next high profile performance will be as the protege to Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Maverick. Lots of big moves ahead for such a small dude.
Pullman is set to star in ‘Salem’s Lot as Ben Mears, a young writer who returns to the town where he was raised for creative inspo. There, he uncovers that his childhood home has been leased by a very evil vampire and his lover. Sorry, I mean assistant.
Will Ben be able to save his town of Jerusalem’s Lot from the parasitic shadow?
David Soul played the part of Ben in the original Tobe Hooper adaptation, who himself was fresh off the success of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The creative team behind the new ‘Salem’s Lot is a who’s-who of the spooky mainstream cabal. You’ve got James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring) producing alongside Mark Wolper and Roy Lee. Lee has the honour of producing IT, which currently sits as the highest-grossing horror movie ever made. I guess $700 M opens a few doors these days.
Lastly, how do you feel about this new version of ‘Salem’s Lot? Are you excited to see what Dauberman and friends are cooking up? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always down to talk all things, Stephen King!
