More casting news has come for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, the horror flick How to Catch a Monster, as two more actors have signed on for active duty. Read on for all the latest details.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Eva Mendes (Ghost Rider, 2 Fast 2 Furious) and Rob Zabrecky have been cast in the flick. Mendes will play “Cat,” a prominent figire of the Big Bad Wolf Club. Zabrecky is to play a cab driver. They join the previously announced Christina Hendricks and Ben Mendelsohn.
The film is set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city where Billy (Hendricks), a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. She must dive deep into the mystery, if the family is to survive.
How to Catch a Monster will be produced by Marc Platt Productions, which worked on Gosling’s 2011 crime thriller Drive. In a statement Platt called the actor’s latest project a “beautifully haunting script,” adding that Gosling’s “ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will serve him well as a filmmaker.”
