IFC Midnight Acquires U.S. Rights to Canadian Home Invasion Thriller ‘See For Me’
IFC Midnight announced today that it has acquired the U.S. rights to See For Me, the Canadian thriller from director Randall Okita. In the film, a blind house-sitter faces off against three criminals seasoned in the ways of home invasion.
Okita’s film is written by Adam Yorke and Tommy Gushue and stars Skyler Davenport (as the blind house-sitter, Sophie), Kim Coates, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Pascal Langdale, Joe Pingue, George Tchortov, Laura Vandervoort, and Emily Piggford. Wilding Pictures made See For Me in partnership with Telefilm Canada and Ontario Creates, with Matt Code and Kristy Neville as producers and David Di Brina as executive producer.

See For Me is the second feature from Okita, whose directorial debut, The Lockpicker, was a standout discovery at the Canadian Screen Awards in 2017. Okita’s room-scale virtual reality experience, The Book of Distance, also played at several major fests in 2020 before See For Me made its world premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.
“See For Me is an innovative take on the home invasion thriller and an impressive showcase of Randall’s skills as a storyteller and visual artist,” said IFC Films president Arianna Bocco in a statement. “[Its] nail-biting twists and turns are perfect for IFC Midnight audiences. It’s also an exciting debut by lead actor Skyler Davenport, who really anchors the film with their expressive and complex performance.”
Okita added: “We are delighted to be working with IFC Midnight and I can’t wait for audiences to be thrilled and uplifted by Sophie’s journey in See For Me.”
The deal for See For Me was negotiated by IFC Films, with XYZ and Elle Driver representing the filmmakers. IFC Midnight will release the film in 2022.
