Mad Monster Hosts Blacula Screening and Q&A with Special Guests on February 13th

If you’re going to be near the Chinese Theaters in Hollywood this week, be sure to pop in on Wednesday to enjoy Mad Monster’s screening of Blacula featuring a Q&A with cast members Denise Nicholas and Bob Minor. Sounds like a blast!

Celebrate Black History Month with Mad Monster and Blacula, Dracula’s 70’s Soul Brotha’, at the Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, Wednesday, February 13th at 9:00pm! The event will include a special Q&A with cast members Denise Nicholas who played “Michelle” and Blacula’s stuntman, Bob Minor, moderated by author and film historian, Pat Jankiewicz, the last person to interview Blacula himself, William Marshall!
As always, there will be prize giveaways, a costume contest and more from our fiends at Days of the Dead LA, Creepycult, Evil Puppets, London 1888, Retro Outlaw Studios and Monsterpalooza! About the Special Guests
Denise Nicholas is an award-winning author-actress-producer whose intense career spans a journey from actress and founding member of the American Civil Rights Movement’s Free Southern Theatre, to founding member of off-Broadway’s legendary Negro Ensemble Company, to starring roles on television and film dramas and comedies. Denise has starred opposite Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby, starred in “In The Heat of The Night,” garnered three consecutive Golden Globe Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role on Room 222 and three NAACP Image Awards. All the joys and sorrows of living life fully have culminated in her current career as writer and award-winning author of her book Freshwater Road.
Brawny and imposing actor/stuntman Bob Minor was a champion bodybuilder (former Mr. LA), making his debut in movies as a stuntman in Russ Meyer’s Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970). Minor’s next break was working as actor and stunt coordinator on both Coffy and Foxy Brown. In 1973, Minor became the first black member of the Stuntman’s Association of Motion Pictures and six years later, became the second vice-president of that association. Minor has performed stunts in Holes, Ocean’s Eleven (2001), The Italian Job, Volcano, Witness, The Beastmaster, The Sword and the Sorcerer, Rollerball (1975), Earthquake and Cleopatra Jones among others. Minor has doubled for actors Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, John Amos, Danny Glover, Bernie Mac, Sidney Poitier, Roger E. Mosley and Carl Weathers. He has also worked as both a second-unit director and stunt coordinator on film and TV shows. Some of Minor’s most memorable roles are, Studs the Chauffeur in Coffy, a black revolutionary in Foxy Brown, a back-alley pimp in Scream Blacula Scream, a rollerball team member in Rollerball, Wiley in The Deep and a vicious hit man in Action Jackson. Minor’s many TV show guest spots even include playing a Klingon on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” Minor was the stunt coordinator and a second unit director for the hit TV show “Magnum, P.I.” The film Bob Minor is proudest of is Glory, in which he employed 70 stunt performers.
