Brooklyn Horror Film Fest Announces 2021 Slate

The Sadness

Brooklyn Horror Film Festival is back! The esteemed genre film festival is returning to North Brooklyn from October 14-21, 2021. It boasts a killer line-up of phenomenal premieres, dazzling shorts, and special presentations.

Here’s What To Expect from The Festival:

The festival will showcase 14 features and six short blocks. Brooklyn Horror Film Fest opens with Jenna Cato Bass’ South African film Good Madam (Mlungu Wam) and closes with Rob Jabbaz’s harrowing Tawainese zombie film The Sadness. Both have already made their mark in the festival space, so suffice to say that they’ll make a splash in Brooklyn.

The centerpiece film, Lucile Hadžihalilović’s Earwig, follows a young girl with teeth made of ice. Yes, you read that correctly. They’ll also be screening Gasper Noe’s 50-minute 2019 film, Lux Aeterna, which is sure to be both nauseating and spectacular.

Two films are set to have their world premiere at the festival: Alfonso Cortés-Cavanillas’ Ego and Adam Randall’s Night Teeth. Ego is described as a “COVID-set psychological doppelganger cyber-thriller” where a woman makes a rather disturbing discovery on a dating site. Night Teeth stars the queen herself Megan Fox, as well as Sydney Sweeney of Euphoria fame. In the film, a college student gets sucked into —pun intended—a world of high-society vampires in Los Angeles.

Their shorts block boasts a wide range of exceptional talent, including a block of LGBTQ+ shorts presented with NewFest. Brooklyn Horror Film Fest will also host 20th-anniversary presentations of Session 9 and Trouble Every Day.

In addition to the in-person film festival, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival is again collaborating with the Boston Underground Film Festival, North Bend Film Festival and Overlook Film Festival for the virtual-only event NIGHTSTREAM, which takes place October 7-13, 2021.

Screenings for Brooklyn Horror Film Festival will take place at Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg, Williamsburg Cinemas, and Stuart Cinema. Festival badges are currently on sale. Individual tickets can be purchased starting Thursday, September 23 at 5 PM EST. As part of their commitment to ensuring the health and safety of festival attendees, all screenings require proof of full vaccination and a valid ID. Masks are also required during all screenings unless you are eating or drinking. You can see their full list of COVID-19 protocol on their website.
