‘The Munsters’: Rob Zombie Now Shares Completed 1313 Mockingbird Lane

When it comes to his reboot of The Munsters, Rob Zombie is sticking as close to the original property as possible. In more ways than one.

Almost every detail that he’s shared has been an exact replica of what was seen in the original television series. Now the shock-rocker/director has shared the near-complete vision of 1313 Mockingbird Lane, and it’s impressive as hell. It looks identical to the version built for the original NBC sitcom.

Zombie has been sharing updates liberally ever since he landed in Budapest earlier this year. He’s given us a glance at everything from costume designs to the blueprints of the entire neighbourhood the crew is currently building. This time he shares an image of the actual house that looks like it’s nearly complete.

While the original Munsters only lasted for two seasons, it produced a number of television specials, spin-offs, and features over the past 60 years.

However, this isn’t the first time the franchise has been recalibrated for modern audiences. Back in the 1980s, they resurfaced as The Munsters Today — the longest-running series in the property’s history. In 2012 NBC gave a reboot a try with Bryan Fuller at the helm. While the pilot for Mockingbird Lane has its fans, it wasn’t enough for the network to push the iteration forward as a series.

The original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together the group played the average nuclear American family… except for the fact that they were literal monsters.
