‘Knocking’: Tension and Paranoia Seep Out Of This Exclusive Clip
Grief is an incredibly difficult and unique process. We each handle it in our own ways, and that can manifest in seemingly strange behaviors. Such is the case in Frida Kempff’s Knocking.
In the film, Molly is trying to pick up the pieces after experiencing a traumatic event. She moves into a new apartment while trying to move on. But something interrupts that recovery. Every night, she hears screams and knocks coming from somewhere in the apartment building. But as she tries to find the source, no one believes her or is willing to help. Is it all in her head or is someone truly in trouble?
This exclusive clip provides a glimpse into the mental anguish Molly experiences. She’s desperate for answers and no longer cares about pleasantries.
Experience a taste of Molly’s anxiety in this exclusive clip from Knocking:
Knocking had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival in the Midnight section. It’s Kempff’s narrative feature debut. Previously, Kempff primarily worked in documentary filmmaking.
The psychological horror thriller is incredibly claustrophobic, thanks to the work of cinematographer Hannes Krantz. His camerawork is paired with the pulsing score by Martin Dirkov, which further ramps up the paranoia.
