We have some casting news for one of The CW’s pilots as the network has placed another member of the Amell family in a prominent position on the network. Robbie Amell, cousin of “Arrow” star Stephen Amell, has been cast in a lead role in “The Tomorrow People.”
Per TV Guide, Amell’s character (ironically named Stephen) is a tormented young man who longs to be normal and is relieved to learn he’s not crazy, but rather part of a group of genetically superior people known as the Tomorrow People, who use such special powers as teleportation and telepathy to fight evil.
Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Greg Berlanti (“Arrow”) will executive produce “The Tomorrow People,” an adaptation of the cult British 1970s sci-fi series. It will be written/exec produced by Phil Klemmer (“Chuck”).
Created by Roger Price, “The Tomorrow People,” ITV’s answer to BBC’s “Doctor Who,” ran from 1973-1979. It developed a strong cult following and was a favorite of Berlanti and Plec, who are good friends from college.
