‘The Munsters’: Rob Zombie Shares New Photo On Mockingbird Lane
As Rob Zombie continues production on his upcoming reboot of The Munsters, he’s keeping us well-informed via his Instagram.
The film is now in front of cameras again after a short break. Today Zombie shared a selfie in front of a Mockingbird Lane street sign—a set piece from the now-shooting adaptation.

According to everything we’ve seen so far, the set is an exact replica of the one used in the original series from 1964. That said, the tone of the reboot is still unknown.
The original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together, the group played the average nuclear American family. But twist—they were a clan of monsters!
This isn’t the first time the franchise has been recalibrated for modern audiences. Back in the 1980s, they resurfaced as The Munsters Today—the longest-running series in the property’s history. In 2012 NBC gave a reboot a try with Bryan Fuller at the helm. While the pilot for Mockingbird Lane has its fans, it wasn’t enough for the network to push the iteration forward as a series.
A notorious Munsters fan, Zombie has been chasing this film adaptation for 20-some-odd years, according to the first Instagram post he shared on the subject. The new Rob Zombie film is likely to hit the streaming service Peacock sometime next year. We’re still unsure if the project will be seen theatrically.
